For commercial or short-term clarsach or pedal harp hires within Scotland or the wider UK, please contact us.


Many of our customers hire a harp to start with. The Saltire Harp Centre has a fleet of lever harps (clarsachs) available for rent, and this is a very cost-effective way of trying one out. It’s also an excellent opportunity to decide which size of harp/clarsach may suit you best. Although we are based in Scotland, we are able to deliver rental harps/clarsachs all over the UK.

Prices

Our hire harps include everything you need to get started: A beautiful handmade Harp, transport cover & tuning key

Lever Harp - per month (Minimum hire 6 Months)

  • Pilgrim Skylark or clarsach 34 string - £60
  • Dusty Strings Ravenna 34 - £55
  • Dusty Strings Ravenna 26 - £45

Pedal Harp - per month (Minimum hire 12 Months)

There is an initial refundable deposit of £150. This will be returned at the end of the rental period provided the harp is returned in good condition. 

Deposit and the first month’s rental payment are due on the date of the agreement. Subsequent rental payments are due monthly after the first payment, via Standing Order.

The hirer is responsible for insuring the instrument against loss or damage.

Try before you buy


If you decide to buy one of our harps after 6 months of hiring, you will receive the full 6 months off the price of a new harp. If you decide to buy after 12 months of hiring, you will receive 8 months off the price of a new harp. If you decide to buy after 24 months of hiring, you will receive 12 months off the price of a new harp, after which, no further increase in credits will be available. The harp you are currently hiring will be free of charge while your new harp is being made.

Harps can be collected or delivery costs would typically be ~£120 for a 34 string harp. Collection in Edinburgh/Glasgow may be possible. At the end of the rental period, instruments must be returned at the hirer’s expense by approved transport.

For all harp rentals we require a scan of a valid form of I.D. with photo and signature (passport, driving licence, identity card). We would require you to sign a rental agreement and set up a standing order for the rental.
